The groundbreaking, internationally acclaimed visual blog, The Big Picture, premiered June 1, 2008. In its first 20 days, it neared 1.5 million page views. Produced by a select group of picture editors at The Boston Globe, its goal is to highlight superior imagery, with a focus on current events. As manager of the blog, I approved topics and contributed curated shows once or twice weekly. Breaking news posts such as those following the 2010 eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano were viewed by hundreds of thousands across the world. Originally featuring only wire and agency images, it was later expanded to include Globe staff work.
