68 BLOCKS:
Life, Death, Hope

This Globe series documented a year in Boston’s Bowdoin-Geneva neighborhood. It’s a neighborhood known for trouble, but a Globe team spent months there, listening and asking why violence persists where love and loyalty also run strong. This project proved to be particularly challenging visually. The residents were incredibly reluctant to allow photographers into their homes, mistrustful of the media in general. Because of these challenges, we used a variety of visual and graphic approaches to strengthen our coverage.
